Dear Parents / Carers
As the infection rate is increasing locally, we have made the decision to review the transition sessions for the end of this week in an effort to reduce the likelihood of pupils and staff having to enter into a period of self-isolation. After risk assessing, we are reluctant for pupils to meet their new teacher(s) indoors for the sessions: with a positive case, this would potentially impact on other year groups if teachers and support staff have crossed bubbles for transition. We are still keen to offer transition sessions to settle any nerves about next year so, as risks outdoors are significantly lower, instead of the full day of classroom-based activities initially planned, the transition sessions will be as follows:
- Thursday 15th July (pm session only) - Current Year 4 additional outdoor transition afternoon due to classes being mixed with next year's Y5 teachers
- Friday 16th July (pm session only) - Current Year 3 and Year 4 outdoor transition afternoon, with next year's Y4 and Y5 teachers. (As pupils will be on the field, year groups will be able to social distance).
- Tuesday 20th July (am session only) - Current Year 5 outdoor transition morning with next year's Y6 teachers.
We seem to spend hours planning and re-planning at the minute as Covid sends further curve balls our way. Hopefully that will be the final change that we will have to make - fingers crossed!
Please could you ensure that children apply sun cream and bring a hat and water bottle on the day of their transition session as they will be outside for approximately 90 minutes.
Thank you for your understandingThe AJS Team
