What is a Church School

We encourage parents to view our school prior to applying for a place for your child. To arrange to look around the school please call us on 023 92580450. Visits during the school day are best as they give you the opportunity to see us in action. We are more than happy to answer any questions or queries you may have.

Please note that the catchment area for Alverstoke Church of England Junior School is the Ecclesiastical Parish of St Mary’s Alverstoke, which includes the Local Authority defined catchment area. Please click here to see if you live within the boundary of the Parish.

To apply for a place at our school please visit https://www.hants.gov.uk/educationandlearning/admissions. Once you have completed this online application the school will receive a notification from the admissions team.  We will then respond to your application accordingly. Please note that we currently hold waiting lists for all year groups.

We will aim to notify parents of the outcome of their admission application within 10 school days.  Where this is not possible, a response will always be issued within 15 school days.  Thank you.

School Admissions 2024 – 2025

For Church of England Voluntary Aided Schools and Academies in the Diocese of Winchester and Diocese of Portsmouth.

National Notification date for on-time applications.

 

Tuesday 16th April 2025

Notification date for late applicants (whose applications received after 15th January and before the 16th April 2024)

 

From Monday 29th April 2025

Deadline date for parents wishing to lodge an appeal. (Returning completed appeal papers Hampshire County council.)

 

Friday 21st May 2025

Appeal hearing to be held.

From 3rd June to 23rd July, inclusive

 

 

Decision letters to be sent.

 

Within 5 calendar days of hearing 

 

Please note

(i) Appeals lodged after 21st May 2025 will be heard during the above dates if possible. Where it is not achievable to hold an appeal between the above dates, the hearing will be scheduled within 30 school days (excluding any school holidays) of the appeal being lodged. Appeals lodged on or after 3rd June 2025 may not be heard until the autumn term.


(ii) Applicants will receive at least 14 calendar days’ notice of the exact date and location of their appeal hearing.


(iii) Following the lodging of an appeal, additional papers may be submitted to the Appeals Service until 14 calendar days before the hearing. Evidence submitted after this date will be considered by the panel but this may lead to an adjournment and significant delays.
